Perry Township Zoning Resolution
Neighborhood Strategies is working with Perry Township, located in eastern Licking County, to develop its first zoning resolution. Unlike its five neighboring townships, Perry Township currently has no zoning regulations. This initiative follows the successful completion and adoption of the Township’s first comprehensive plan in November 2023, also developed by Neighborhood Strategies.
The comprehensive plan laid the groundwork for Perry Township’s future growth and development, establishing a clear vision and set of goals for the community. Following the plan’s adoption, Neighborhood Strategies began the process of developing a zoning resolution based on feedback from a diverse 15-member steering committee. This committee, composed of local residents provided valuable insights and guidance to ensure the zoning resolution aligns with the community’s needs and aspirations.
The proposed zoning resolution aims to introduce a structured framework for land use and development within Perry Township. It will provide guidelines and standards to manage growth, protect natural resources, and preserve the community’s character. The resolution is designed to balance development opportunities with the need to maintain the Township’s rural charm and quality of life.
Key components of the zoning resolution include regulations for residential, and agriculturally derived development, as well as provisions for environmental protection, open space conservation, and infrastructure planning. By establishing clear rules and procedures, the zoning resolution will help ensure orderly and sustainable development in Perry Township.
The zoning resolution is anticipated to go to ballot in the spring of 2025. If approved by the voters, it will mark a significant milestone for Perry Township, providing the community with the tools needed to manage future growth and development effectively. This project represents a collaborative effort between Neighborhood Strategies, the steering committee, and the residents of Perry Township, all working together to shape a vibrant and sustainable future for the community.
