Jim’s distinguished career in local government led to launching his own community planning and government relations firm, Neighborhood Strategies, in early 2022. In less than three years, Jim has quadrupled the size of our firm, provided vital services to communities across the state of Ohio, and served as a key contributor to regionally impactful projects. With over 17 years of dedicated service in the public sector, Jim has demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of citizens through effective policies and strategic solutions. Since founding Neighborhood Strategies, Jim has authored and implemented comprehensive plans for more than eight communities, secured funding for multiple communities and organizations, served as project manager for complex regional efforts, served as an economic development advisor, established zoning and significantly revised existing zoning for more than eight communities, and led stakeholder and public engagement for significant State initiatives. Jim served as Johnstown’s Village/City Manager and Planner for more than 12 years. He previously served as a community planner for Licking County, Ohio and Warrenton, Virginia, in addition to serving as Community and Economic Development Director for Burton Planning Services.
