ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Neighborhood Strategies developed the Granville Economic Development Strategy to help this historic Central Ohio village and surrounding township plan for unprecedented regional growth spurred by the $20 billion Intel Ohio One investment. The strategy, crafted with robust community input, includes initiatives like forming the Granville Area Community Improvement Corporation (GACIC) and a Joint Economic Development District (JEDD), and guiding the community on how to attract businesses, retain and enhance jobs, and diversify its economy while preserving its New England style charm.

>>> ENHANCING EMPLOYMENT & DIVERSIFYING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

Renowned for its historic architecture, Denison University, and charming character, the Granville area partnered with Neighborhood Strategies to prepare for anticipated economic growth spurred by the upcoming Intel campus, just 15 miles to the east. Responding to a 10% population increase since 2016 but only 5% job growth, the Village of Granville engaged our team to develop the Granville Economic Development Strategy, aimed at boosting local employment and diversifying the economy.

This strategy supports both the Village of Granville and the surrounding Granville Township, amplifying the efforts of the Granville Chamber of Commerce. Built on insights gathered through immersive community engagement at local events and consultations, the plan focuses on attracting new businesses and supporting existing ones through initiatives like the Granville Sports and Health District and projects along the SR-16 Advanced Manufacturing Corridor.

>>> CENTRALIZING INVESTMENT & FOSTERING STRATEGIC COLLABORATIon

A key element of the Granville Economic Development Strategy is the formation of the Granville Area Community Improvement Corporation (GACIC). This entity serves as the central point for coordinating investment efforts and was modeled after successful practices from communities such as Powell and Dublin. Additionally, our team proposed the creation of a Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) to foster economic growth and resource sharing between the Village of Granville and Granville Township. This collaborative initiative was officially adopted by both entities in May 2024.
